Django
Jimi
Freddie King
JG
Duane Allman
Tony Iommi
Dimebag
Muddy
Johnny Ramone
Les Paul
Le Quintet du Hot Club de France w/ Django never gets old but I think he loses some of his feel with his electric stuff. Also on Netflix is a doc. on Les Paul called "searching for the sound" (i think that's the name). The man was brilliant.

Dimebag Darrel was the guitar player for the metal band Pantera. Now that I think about it, he's probably not one of the greatest, but one of my faves

Brilliant, amazing and humble. Changed our world – the proof is in the video – everyone should see it. Funny, but he was the first I thought of when this post began, not necessarily for virtuosity, but like you said, brilliant. Anyone who is unfamiliar with him is just kidding themselves – he is our (electric guitar and recorded music fans) Thomas Edison.

Well said, I didn't realize Les was in the inventors hall of fame or whatever before seeing the doc.
